About to embrace the future
I have decided that I will swap out of my Range Rover Sport Supercharged and go for a new Defender.

Now the 22MY has been announced (and I have closure on the V8 version- no way I can justify that right now!) I have decided to place an order.

As I don't want part leather part fabric seats and the pain that seems to bring to most people with water marks and staining I am going for an HSE as follows:

D300 HSE 5 Seat 110
Carpathian Grey
Full Ebony leather
Ebony headlining
Rough cut walnut veneer
20" satin grey style 5098 alloys
Tow bar
Privacy Glass
11.4" Pivi Pro
Clearsight

The rest all comes as standard really.

I am told it is 12-14 wks delivery but reading around, this could be optimistic but that doesn't matter to me, I have 3 cars to choose from right now!

I shall miss the Supercharged Range Rover though, but it's time to look forwards and try new experiences.

NB: Note- unlike seemingly endless numbers of muppets on FaceBook forums, I have no interest in asking people what they think about my choices, do they like the colour, should I have XY or Z. This is my choice and people's opinions are irrelevant. I've even seen people asking where to fill up washer fluid and what the high/low range button does!! A friendly name from the FullFat Forum, Thumbs Up it looks very much like we’ll be joining you with a new Defender but not for my Range Rover, I’m keeping that, for now. The Defender will be Swmbo’s, replacing her D4 Whistle

I too prefer the full leather on the HSE but the dark cross beam is one of the bosses “non negotiable’s” so it will have to be an X Dynamic HSE, which opens a hole new can of worms with gloss black bits Big Cry

Good to see you!

Yes there’s no one single spec that ticks every box. I like the X Dynamic HSE but I don’t want part fabric seats. I like the look of the gloss black lower painted panels but do wonder how they cope with road rash and off road activity.

The same goes for the XS, good spec (clear sight as standard) but then you can’t have the D300! Swings and roundabouts. 2016 D4 HSE

Just going to point out that the ‘part fabric’ on the X Dynamic is not the same as the fabric on the other models.

It seems really hard wearing and no staining on mine yet, and the dogs have been jumping all over it! Cleans up easily and well.

Thanks Gareth.

Any ill effects on the lower painted panels? I saw a post from a guy in the US and behind the wheels was destroyed already in a few thousand miles. 2016 D4 HSE

As the staining referred to was officially noted as being due to "Incorrect fabric treatment at the manufacturer.", would it not be expected that this issue would be resolved by the manufacturer and so the issue related only to a batch of older vehicles now?

I saw that car, I’m thinking of going for the XS if I get a refund on my troublesome first edition but I’m concerned about the bottom body coloured bottom panels after seeing his post. Would be interesting to find out if other X dynamic owners are having the same problem or if it was a one off.

That's what I'm hoping but I'm not taking any chances and am going to pre-treat the seat edges as soon as mine arrives - well maybe not as soon as it arrives, as I will want to drive it, but at that time I might throw some temp protectors over the front seats Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

No problems with shiny bits. Only done 1200 miles on tarmac though. I have classic mudflaps which seem to keep most of the crud off.

Only damage is on the rear bumper from dog claws. So I’d recommend a cover of sorts. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

If it was a problem you could get the lower panels wrapped in ppf perhaps? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV
