Gareth, not sure if you had have LR 6 cylinders in other vehicles so apologies for my ignorance but how do you find the D300?

I cancelled my first Defender order (which I placed whilst in Frankfurt at the motor show launch!) as I was disappointed with 4-pot engines and said I'd hold out for something smoother and bigger.

My D3 TDV6 is old technology by today's standards but a 6 cylinder is just smoother and nicer to drive. Yours is barely run in but do you find it powerful enough? 2016 D4 HSE

I have the D300 6 cylinder diesel. It is a lovely engine, you will not be disappointed. The sound is fantastic and compared to the SDV6 is smoother and much quieter. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Oh yes the power! It’s fantastic. A full 2 seconds quicker to 60 than the D4. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

I know it's not going to make me smile as much as the 510BHP V8 Supercharged but I'm hopeful it's a gutsy engine. First time I will have bought a car without ever having driven one with the engine I am getting.

The 256bhp D4 was a smooth drive, and much nicer than my D3 TDV6, so a jump to 300BHP will be nice. 2016 D4 HSE

Well,

all best laid plans and all that - it's all change.

My local dealer suddenly listed a D300 HSE in Santorini, full black pack etc, for end of March delivery. I will forego having the newer larger Pivi Pro screen, roof rail and colour of choice.

This has saved me £3K and a 6 month wait! 2016 D4 HSE

Roof rails are dealer fitted so you could still have them. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Getting the dealer to spray the front and rear silver bumpers in dark satin grey.

It's the future.... shame we can't choose between old or new but if you own an old defender the values are as they are because of this.

I love my 2011 Defender but doesn't stop me from being envious of what your just about to get. Enjoy
