Rectangular rear doors, a rare vehicle indeed.

Someone must be really miserable now.

no comment on the short trl or the rear overhang as long as they all walked away ok.

what's worse is the recovery firm who took pictures just rolled the lot back over complete. no air bags no cranes. didnt split the motor or trl off the landy.

hope they get rebuilt and were insured.

I would doubt that that was overweight. Trailer appears to be an IW LM146 (just like mine) which unladen as a flatbed is around 0.5 tonnes. An empty 130, assuming it was complete and empty, is likely to be around 2.5 tonnes, so the gross trailed weight I'd expect to be over 3 but under 3.5 tonnes, so within limits for the 90, the trailer, and gross train weight.

However there is very limited scope for adjusting the nose weight, and very little margin of safety. There are numerous ways it could go terribly wrong, many of them not the fault of the driver.

Let's hope no-one was hurt and everything was insured. There's nothing in the LR world that cannot be rebuilt, but I can't imagine what the owner of the 127 is feeling now.

Saw this on FB, iirc it was off to the new owner after a restoration. The previous owner saw it and was as cross as you'd expect having done all the hard work! Evil or Very Mad Instagram: l90andy

That must have been both frightening and heartbreaking! Shocked Having towed many heavy trailers with 90Âīs, I can fully sympathise with the poor chap in the tow vehicle.
Big Cry
To be honest, it is amazing that the 90 is allowed to pull the same load (3.5 tons) as the 110. The lighter weight and short wheelbase combined with suspension that makes the vehicle an excellent off-roader, are an unfortunate combination for a tow vehicle. It only takes a few kilos too few at the hitch and a soft swell in the road surface at 50 mph and the tail will wag the dog. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
