I’ve never in my life heard of a tesla having to have a replacement screen... or any car for that matter...

Plus given that the screens “float” in most modern cars rather than being on the front of a head unit like older vehicles, I can’t imagine that replacing one is very expensive at all.

I don’t think I’ll be adding screen lifetime & replacement cost to the list of things to consider when buying a car any time soon... Cheers, David

Now that there is an RRS style Dynamic Mode for the V8 Defender there’s a bit of a model naming problem coming up - RRS with trick handling etc is badged as a Dynamic but if you buy an X-Dynamic badged Defender you don’t get the clever system you get glossy paint trim on the lower panels and a few trinkets on the inside. Having owned an HSE Dynamic RRS it was a brilliant system and had a very noticeable effect on the handling as well as giving you the rear e-diff and torque vectoring as part of the pack - such a pity we cannot have the same option for the Dynamic Defenders without having to buy a £100,000 version. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Teslas are having a lot of issues with their screens - unresponsive, not turning on etc.. There have been voluntary recalls.

I’m not a fan of big screens, I think they are a distraction to the driver and are not necessary. For 100 years people managed to drive without a massive screen (bit of a tongue in cheek comment I know) so I don’t get the obsession now. Plus I think that in years to come they will look out dated as technology moves on. Bentley has it right in the Continental GT with the revolving screen but that will take a while to filter down to more affordable cars!!

Just my opinion and I hope that there would be the option in the future to spec the smaller screen if the customer wishes not to have the larger one.

fellow Landie owner in Perth just had his MY21.5 order cancelled, informed for the Australian market there will
be no D300 SE model in the 90 variant on vehicles due delivery post March, even on existing orders

A trip back to the dealers next week to reorder a new MY22 90 D250 S with options to bring it up to spec.. wonder
if LR will look at a price guarantee / match based upon his old order hmm yet another pommie bar steward down under

That isn't even the first screen related drama they've had. The units in the S/X are not automotive grade and suffered from yellowing along the edges. They used paid influencers on twitter and the Tesla owners forums to promote a "UV light" based fix that seemed to be mostly snake oil. Fairly certain the influencers actually had their screens replaced but claimed to have received the UV treatment.

Their recently stated lifetime for infotainment units is 5-6 years. Seems at odds with "saving the planet"...

They are an unscrupulous company. Buyer beware.

From a quick run of the Australian configurator,

HSE is only available in 90’s with a petrol engine.

HSE is available in 110’s with D300 or P400.
