Yes I have also noticed this problem but apparently JLR have improved the quality of the fabric, that being said I have instructed the dealership to stain guard the seats as I’m not taking any chances. Picking my vehicle up tomorrow and the forecast is for rain do I’ll see just how good or bad they are on collection.

I spent 4 years detailing interiors on private jets, for Harrods, Tag & Signature, I specialised in all types of fabric, leather and silks etc. Although red wine and ink were the main problems, water marks were also quite a common problem.
If it’s just water, try cleaning the whole seat from start with just water and if left to dry naturally it should dry uniformly without the stain. If you have a wet vac you could use that to draw some the water out, but you would still need to do the whole seat for it to dry the same. On delicate fabrics don’t scrub them as you could damage the weave, but most car fabrics are quite robust. Hope this helps although it’s always a worry when you think you need to make it look worse to rectify it  Ride like you stole it!!

 from my perspective I just want to find a low maintenance solution
so some pre-treatment which would enable a simple adhoc wipe regime is what I'm looking for. My last two vehicles (one LR) both had whole leather seats which took nothing more than a brush/hoover to keep ok, and the three previous (one also LR) were all cloth seats which also took hardly any looking after too (a wipe after a spill was about it) Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history) |

Related to what’s been said above, my friend is an upholstery cleaner and he suggested placing a wet towel on the whole of the affected seat for while then remove and allow to dry naturally. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Protection is better than cure....
You need some of this, shake spray and leave to dry.... great value and it works Obviously only apply to clean dry fabric, ideal on new or nearly new vehicles And if your unsure, watch YouTube for application instructions, you would not believe how easy it is... ^^^^ is the same stuff that dealers con attempt to sell as part of £400 a pop as 'protection package'
Nothing on Amazon but plenty of options on Ebay (looks like broken out from commercial sets) P.S. The problems only seem to be with the cloth parts of the half & half leather/cloth seats. Mine has the standard cloth only seats and I’ve had rain/snow and all sorts blowing in there with zero problems. And I presume the posh full leather ones are okay too.

This is my driver’s seat (as I drive alone 99% of the time the others are still good)
It has been professionally cleaned at my expense now 3 times but this was after snow 2 weeks ago - the seat fabric is dry in this photo. I have also cleaned and dried the seat myself using a hairdryer on a low setting but even though the fabric is dry it remains stained. Now subject to a warranty claim as the dealership has also had an attempt to permanently remove the stains Click image to enlarge As you can see it’s only the fabric, the leather is untouched/stained Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Yup definitely poor show, even the suede stuff on my Velar seats holds up better. I suppose they will have looked at this for 21MY?

I read today that LR claims that the manufacturer of the fabric “applied the wrong proofing compound”. Sounds like buck passing to me!
