create/edit post: no photo panel
Hi Martin,

when I try to upload a picture for a new or edited post, the image won't appear in the panel below the editor.
It says "Adding to panel" and that's it. Sorry, can't upload a screenshot, of course.
Yesterday it was fine. Just tried to create a new topic and noticed the problem.

thanks
Frank

What device - have you tried on another device/browser?

I have given you some extra gallery space in case it is that which was the problem.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Ok, this is weird... The problem persists but it seems to affect only certain files - Question
When I try to upload something important, it's not added to the gallery or panel Sad
When I added the above screenshot yesterday it worked fine, so I thought the problem had gone.

I tried various files but couldn't find a pattern so far. Also it's the same from another Mac with different OS version. It did work from the main Mac two days ago with a file from the same set (same format, same name pattern, same toolchain). No update of my software since then.

Any idea what I could try next? Can you see any error messages in an upload log?

Files or images?

If images, perhaps the image size is enormous and the server isn't receiving it quickly enough, or it doesn't carry out the processing (resizing/thumbnailing) to protect other server tasks.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

image files Smile

My images are all scaled down befor I upload them (I have a workflow stripping them of some EXIF data and adding that little watermark). It's usually 1000px wide JPGs with around 100 - 300 KB.

To cross check I just uploaded an 8Mpx, 2.4 MB file - no problem

update: problem has something to do with the file name Shocked

I can upload the same image when it's named "IMG_5212 - tarp bag_csw.jpg" but not "curtains – 01_csw.jpg".
I was about to write "I have no clue why", when I noticed the hyphen in the bad name is a "–", not a "-" Exclamation
Replace/remove that dash and it works Rolling Eyes

When I said I'd used the same toolchain that was correct, but for the "curtain*" files I used an export function of iPhoto where it takes the album name plus a sequence number and puts the dash inbetween. I never noticed before that it was not a "-". Been using iPhoto since 2003... Smile In the "good case" the image title which I edited manually was used as file name.

sleeping better now Wink
