I own a Shooting ground ; The cable is used to raise my clay traps up/down my Tower for filling /altering height.
I have a 30m lift to the top.

Previously I have tried an Open ended sock - failed but then one of the top pulleys had failed.
Also tried splicing & taping with gaffer tape - that also failed - not sure what caused that to fail but I assume it was early on in the top pulley failing.
The idea of splicing in a section of dynamic rope appeals BUT it means losing the F&T end which fits into the winch drum.I need to research this bit .
I am looking for a solution that means I can readily change the cable ( which I do annually) without issue.

best to use wire rope snake, in your case it could be used many times see link below to give you an idea

An adhesive heat shrink would/should have the flexibility - I will explore this.
Snake grip - good idea just not sure how that would work over the actual pulleys - IF the cable jumps out of the pulley there is no way I can get it back in without going up the Tower...
However I will look into this

I would contact a specialist company who supply cable socks and ask their advice to ensure you get the correct item that is fit for purpose Thumbs Up last thing you want is a problem where the cable falls backwards or gets jammed and you have to climb up the tower. 2015 HT XS 90

I used to pull through stainless steel cables 10, 12, 14, and 16mm diameter cable through pulley blocks using these. Worked fantastically even underwater, and overhead. Can’t remember one not working if setup properly.
