brighter/additional reverse light & headlight loom
I have fitted an LED rear bulb to reversing lamp holder on my 130 but its still not really bright enough.

Any suggestions as to a good quality brighter reversing bulb that someone has tried recently?

Likewise am also considering an external rear worklight to wire as an additional reversing light - if it was LED could it take a feed direct from the existing rev light (to run both together) or would i need to turn that feed into a signal wire to switch a relay for both the original bulb and the additional lamp?

Any suggestions on a discreet surface mount rear light thats functional and doesnt break the bank. i would be looking to mount it up high on the roof of the 130.

Headlight loom upgrades, there are lots out there, the last cheaper ebay one didnt give a flash option when on dipped beam without modification. any suggestions on ones to use with decent core wiring - boomslang? Cheers

I’ve got an additional LED work light, can’t recall the brand but it was about £60. it is on a switch on the dash rather than coming in with the reverse light and it makes a huge difference. I haven’t bothered replacing the candle in the standard reverse light as I really done need it!

Reverse light is 21W, so you should be fine running two led lights off existing wiring.

Ping me your address and I’ll post you an unused boomslang in the post on Wednesday, when I’ve got to post something else.

cheers, Steve

Big recommendation for the scenelite kit.

Discreet fitting with reasonable output

Standard reverse light

I’ve been thinking about ways to improve my reverse lights too, but without adding any additional lights. I got to looking at a 95mm combined fog and reverse lamps. I could then fit one on each side. I’d then have 2 reverse and 2 fog. Not sure if they would mount within the plinth or how much an improvement that would give, but worth considering.

Light unit only, but for me switched via an illuminated switch fitted on the steering cowl so I know if it's been left on.

Got mine from Ex-MOD at very good price Thumbs Up 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

I have two of these (Amazon link below) mounted at the rear, and one on each side above the second row doors. I can see perfectly in all directions when reversing, and they are also handy if towing a trailer through tight places in the dark. At present all four switch on with a single switch on the dash, but when I get time I will be wiring them on three separate switches (NS/Rear/OS).

They also make great work lights, camp lights, and off-road lights.

All technically illegal for a variety of reasons, but no-one has ever complained and they've been on for years.

Similar Chinesium lights are available from ebay.

That's what I've done and they are very bright, the worklights were already wired up to a switch on the dash but i put a relay in from a feed from the reverse light. the worklights are a bit old and some of the LEDs don't work so I'm going to replace them with these which are also reverse light approved are officially loads brighter than my old ones.

There are so many LED work/flood lights available these days that will do the job that it really comes down what you like the look of. I had a 48w version of the one linked to by wynn153 on the rear of my old 90 and it was superb. On my current 110 I have a couple of the lights linked to by Blackwolf (under £20 for a pair on eBay) and they are also very good.

There are also lots of different ways that they can be wired up. If coupled with an LED bulb in the original reverse light then there's no reason why you couldn't wire an extra light to the same feed as it'll be within the capacity of the wiring. It will only work as a reverse light, though. I wanted to be able to use mine as scene lighting when camping and so they're connected to the second battery and activated by relays. That allows them to be switched on automatically when reversing (and when the side lights are on) or independently when parked. Darren

If they came on with the reverse light and they weren't approved for reverse lights would it result in an MOT failure?
Just one thing to bear in mind!?
