To stick to US terminology; Ohhh Myyyyy Goooodddd....!!!! Banging Head

Good job JLR, exactly how you'd want to introduce the new Defender in the US after decades of absence.

At least they have been "very transparent and communicative"... Whistle Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000

I wonder what has become of the "technician" who cut through a non-replaceable harness and wrote off a brand new Defender. Not the sort of thing you want to have to tell your boss....

I think they currently got stuck in hell, and by the look of it I'm not sure if they'll make it back anytime soon.

I feel sorry for JLR, but then again: they stuffed up if this is what you get when you buy a new defender... Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000

I'm relieved to be watching this saga on the net, not more closely involved.

Pretty weird design that a cut loom kills the entire car in the sense that it is "not replaceable'

Maybe sell JLR some butt crimp connectors Very Happy

PowerfulUK just fitted their own winch, supplied by LR. They ignored the instructions to cut into the loom
and just used piggy back fuse connectors to solve the problem.. Goes to show the after market
and indies are usually far more knowledgeable and capable than the LR franchise dealers when it comes to the
mechanical and electrical side, and sometimes have better ways to tackle problems than the manufacturers
themselves Laughing yet another pommie bar steward down under

It’s good too that Mr Skywalker has come back with a possible fix for opening the vent flaps so you can gently hose the mud out of the radiator fins, although there appears in one part of the video where Simon shows how clean the radiator is that there is yet another radiator behind and to the left of the main one that also needed cleaning. How hard would it be to make a “radiator cleaning” setting in the Wade function on the TR I wonder? LR has gone to the trouble of programming in brake dragging to dry the pads after wading so why not an “open the cooling flaps” setting to clean the radiator. It might be worth holding off for a few months to see if new assembling instructions arrive after Powerful’s findings have settled in at LR Ivory Towers Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

On the experience day, they said in wade mode it shuts these flaps to stop the crap going through/onto the radiator.

Maybe they need to add the flap closing function to mud and ruts mode as well then! I dread to think what my radiators look like as I’ve never used the Wade setting but have used mud and ruts mostly in deep mud....... they need to add flaps to the brake cooling ducts in the front of the wheel arches too judging by the amount of crud that needs to be washed out of them after a run through deep mad. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
