I'm asking the wrong question - I'm talking about the "graphic" overaly on the B pillar - the ollor match box....I want to piant mine black / or wrap it. Before I go tearing it off - i'm trying to see how it actually can be removed...

If you look in the “Show us your New Defenders” thread the LHD versions have the lunch box and ladder on the same side as the RHD so not handed for driving on the wrong side of the road.

So he's done the ladder video and confirmed that the third rear hole required for the lunchbox is not there on the left side ~ impressive commitment, in that he even drilled an additional hole to see if the captive nut/threading was hidden behind. Thumbs Up

6 bolts, 4 inside and 2 below the box covered by plastic caps.

I’d say a 10 minute job.

There are 2 tamper proof tori bolts that secure the box on top to the roof rail, and then there are 2 bolts under the plastic caps underneath the box. Once you remove all the bolts the box easily comes off. It will leave you with 2 exposed mounting holes in the side railing below the window. It's not terrible looking uninstalled but there are holes left. I don't see it as a big deal, but it would be nice to figure out a way to cover the holes when not using the box.

I tried to order new side moulding, and it arrived in primer after paying over $200 for the part. It needed paint too, which makes the whole swap out a bit pricey.

A spare offside trim would do it I suspect, I had a new trim fitted after they changed
the ladder over to the near side, as the off side trim had two holes drilled for the ladder
mounting screws where LR had originally installed it

That's the trim I ordered. It is costly to get it and paint it, but it clips on and off in a few seconds.

It still beggars belief that JLR did not adopt a system like the Givi monokey so that the box could be taken on and off with ease and even placed on the roofrack if required.

There's got to be fabricator out there who could knock up a frame to pick up on all the mounting points?
