In cace short cct or over load to help prevent fire as the starter cables is only rated for shore term fault current before the cable
insulation becomes damage and expose the copper conductor with short cct or over load the copper conductor will heat up The only trouble with thermal protection devices i.e. mega fuse 400 to 500 amp have slow reaction time to cop with current in starting the engine Last edited by dorsetsmith on 15th Oct 2020 9:32am. No reason why you can't put the mega fuse in a fuse holder mounted to the side of the seat box, with suitable cable in and out.
e.g. https://cpc.farnell.com/littelfuse/0298100...dp/FF02698 You *could* remove the fuse (it didn't exist pre-Puma) however it's not a bad thing to have in place in case of a fault with the starter/alternator or wiring to them. LR wouldn't have spent money on it for no reason... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just remember that you can easily turn your Defender into a fireball electrically long before the megafuse blows. You really don't need a large current for a blaze.

Methodical work, double check everything, correct cabling size and crimping, heat shrink. Works every time for me.
Oh you mean like this.... |
