What are you second guessing sorry? You never mentioned "Tensioner-timing belt" and it is not in the list of the work being done (the yellow list)... Are you trying to help or teach?
I have no idea of the work that needs to be done and that is why I was asking for advice. I am not mechanically savvy but I know that the garage is screwing me royally... still I need the car fixed and I was hoping that the advice here would help. The advice I got did help very much and I thank the forum members for it... If you know of a garage near Olympia that is not as expensive and knows about defenders please let me know. Again thank you all for the help and I will follow up with the results of this expensive adventure. Alex http://instagram.com/h4vou/ |

I know it was in the original work proposal and I thank for it being pointed out originally (by diesel_jim).
It is good to learn something! The item was not in the final yellow list of work actually being done. I was just replying to JST which seemed to be upset about it. Alex http://instagram.com/h4vou/ |

On the yellow you have cabin filter where is that located? Asking as did not think these had cabin filters. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

Maybe, need to see if I have one on mine, not seen one, or could it be the engine air filter? Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

I had asked twice if that was work done trying to fix the vibration, which it hasn't or was the work done and then it started vibrating? I am not trying to teach anything. Cheers James 110 XS Utility 130 Puma Station wagon/camper (in the making) 90 Puma Hardtop |

No problem jst... I wasn’t clear.
The vibration started this summer after a simple service done in another garage, change of oil, a/c recharge, that’s about it as far as I know... This work is being done now to try and solve it by a different garage since I no longer trust the summer one. I’m back to the garage that I’ve used for the past five years which is expensive which is why this summer I used a different one. We’ll see soon enough (and poorer just as soon)... A vibration doesn't come from changing oil etc. So I don't see a link there.
However land rover vibrations are like land rover leaks: They can come from many places and you expect it comes from somewhere completely else. To me it looks like they are replacing expensive parts to cure cloncks but not vibrations. Ok cheers. So vibration started over summer and proposed list above is what garage is suggesting doing. Does it vibrate at all engine running idle or high revs when stationary? Does the vibration vary with engine or road speed. Does it vibrate in any gear at a given speed engine or road. If it does it at engine speed when static then its engine balance related, timing or mounts. If its speed related but not gear related, Ie any engine speed and any gear or neutral and always does it at say 50mph then its road speed related tyres/shafts/props/handbrake. I would start simple with tyres, props both ujs and balancing, if its the latter. The suspension components they are suggesting changing are more knocking noises as change of direction is taken up related.
