Window DAB antennas
When I bought the JVC KD-X561DBT I ordered a stick on DAB antenna. Looks to be normally mounted to the windscreen. Could I get away with sticking the DAB antenna to the Alpine window? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Yep - I've got a stick on spiral type one in my alpine window, works fine.

Because the window is curved the black box part doesn't sit flush against the glass, but it still works fine...

Cheers. Mine has the black plastic DAB with an earth tag and a clear plastic with metal tracks built in that needs sticking to the glass. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Sounds similar to the one I have:

https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-au...38357.html

The black plastic bit is flat so only sticks to the curved window at the edges, but that could be easily cured with double sided sticky foam in the middle, I've just not got round to it yet. I moved it there from the windscreen after having a heated screen fitted and it seems to work just as well...

Fitted the DAB antenna to the Alpine window tonight and so far, sat in the drive, the DAB signal is good and the reception is very clear. How this will work while up and down the hills of Wales or up the motorway remains to be tested. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I got an adapter that uses the existing wing top aerial. Picks up DAB brilliantly and loses it in the same place as my daily drive

My existing FM aerial, at best is......well....useless and needs replacing. Sometimes the radio signal is spot on and other times the signal turns to mush,. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I stuck my DAB aerial onto the bulkhead behind the radio. Really crap reception, so best put it somewhere else. Shocked

I know. Embarassed

In my defence, my wife has just started to use DAB in her car (only took 5 years to try). All we get here in East Yorkshire is the same BBC crap you get on FM plus loads of hits of 80s/90s stations.

I just stream from my phone most of the time. Data is cheap now.
If there's no 3/4G connection then chances are there's no DAB either. I reckon DAB will be turned off before FM!

Mine has been on the Alpine window for a while now....

So much so behind the 'sticky' bit is a fly trap for loads of little flies Smile
