You can switch the camera on at any time, I got a deal with a camera and Ariel included for £180, but i used an Ariel that sticks to the windscreen from Halfords, it all works very well

I’ve just fitted this this, it works well and is a nice system. I did purchase the Optimill camera too which is great but that was almost as much as the head unit! My head unit came with a DAB aerial inside the box, although that doesn’t seem to perform that well and I will likely upgrade to the combined FM and DAB aerial in the future.
The only problem I seem to have is the handsfree mic has a lot of background noise so people cannot hear me clearly, I cannot find any settings to adjust so still trying to work out how to rectify. Cheers Darren Darren |

2011 Puma.
Simple to fit and much easier space wise due to the shallower depth of the head unit. Personally I think it does look good with the small screen and better than other offerings with just the scrolling text screens and lots of lights. The rotary button and it’s push to select is simple and easier to use when ‘bouncing’ along country roads too. Cheers Darren Darren |

Most places were struggling with stock when I got mine a few weeks ago. Ironically Halfrauds was the best price but again no stock, not did MUD UK so unfortunately I had to go to Amazon. Darren

I got the Optimil that is built into the rear number plate lamp, a nice tidy solution that looks factory fit. Darren

I used the JVC camera and put it into a 3d printed housing mounted above the rear door. In terms of switching, you can buy composite video switches fairly cheaply, or a double pole 2 position switch will probably do just fine. Composite video is not a fussy signal! |

Reverse camera arrived today. Might have a look later tonight and find a suitable home for it,

Hi Darren, Did you ever find a solution for this problem? I am having the same issue and I believe I have found the cause at least in my case. I am using the factory mic with the JVC head unit and for some reason the mic is picking up the vibration in the plastic trim. If I just remove the mic from its base and let it hang by the wire, all the callers confirm that the noise is gone. I've tried putting some sort of insulation (wire harness tape) between the mic base and the plastic but it did not help. I've also tried to reduce any friction or movement in the plastic steering column shroud and the instrument cluster but it did not help either. I've tried over tightening the instrument cluster lower finisher while pushing it down to hold the shroud. It did help for a while but them people started complaining about the noise again. I've used the voice recorder on the phone to check it out myself and the noise is very bad. I think my last solution is to move the mic to the A pillar. |
