More than likely, though it seems to be a common topic on Jaguar forums.

Might be a good time to top up the tanks if Oz situation is being reported correctly:

My Velar gets about 6000 miles on a tank, my D4 used to get 11000 miles on a tank, but temperatures and driving styles all have an impact. I filled up with Aldi AdBlue, it was £4.99 for 6 litres, ran sweet as a nut, according to my dealer Halfords AdBlue has caused issues in the past.

You will get plenty warning when it’s running low, if it runs out it won’t start.

I wonder what the dealer charges for the privilege of procuring 10l of Adblue from them vs Halfords? Whistle
It's all supposed to be to ISO 22241 standard anyway. Another example of Main Stealer fake news, or fact?

£29.99 for the dealer to top up or no charge with the service plan. No idea what they charge just for a top up bottle.

I’ve no idea if it’s true, they just said two owners had DEF system issues and both had used Halfords AdBlue.

I've use Ad Blue from Amazon and Halfords (depending on price) and no issues with the wife's Velar.

Even though the we had it with the service package on the previous D/Sport i always found it a pain to go to the dealer and then sit and wait for half an hour, especially as it is as quick to do as you would with screen wash top ups.

I just check the dash information and as soon as it says it needs more that 10 litres i just get a 10l refill and put the whole lot in as over filling is (apparently as bad as letting it run out).

When we had Guava Land Rover before they got taken over and disappeared, you could actually talk Land Rover with the staff as they knew what they were talking about and were generally interested in enthusiasts.

I was told at the time that the dealers wanted to charge at least a part hours labour plus VAT to top up Ad Blue but JLR set the price. Guildford JLR are about £126 plus VAT per hour at the moment.... Neutral

Just a point on Adblue being Adblue...

One thing to remember, storage of it - i see loads miss stored out in the sun etc and apparently that does impact it. So you might buy a brand or a generic and how its stored could degrade it

Quote:
AdBlue should ideally be stored within a temperature range between 0 and 30°C, and kept protected from direct sunlight. It should be properly sealed when it is not being used. It is possible for AdBlue to freeze at -11°C, so it is important that you use a storage area that is not below this temperature.

Small quantities of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) are injected into the exhaust upstream of a catalyst, where it vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia (NH3) is the desired product which in conjunction to the SCR catalyst, converts the NOx to harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O).

To me it always feels annoying to fill up AdBlue using those canisters.
There are quite some filling stations offering AdBlue directly from the pump, at least in Germany. Try looking at the HGV section of the filling station. It's cheaper than canisters and no plastic waste.

And yes, there is a worldwide shortage of AdBlue, however not being critical within the EU yet. Don't know for you folks outside EU.
