Delayed UK PR Launch?
I didn't think there was anyone who had ever scribbled a note for the Parish Council magazine that hadn't been fêted by JLR?

Or is this like the pandemic and they are pushing a 2nd wave.?

Kim Palmer (@KimmyPsWorld) Tweeted:
Here we go with the somewhat delayed @LandRoverUKPR #Defender launch. So pleased to be getting media behind the wheel in a safe way. Sanitised, and ready for the mud. Fantastic teamwork to get to this point. #landrover #newdefender #capableofgreatthings @MarkyG30 https://t.co/CfFXqGumqM https://twitter.com/KimmyPsWorld/status/1289114051809861633?s=20

I thought the Namibia trip was the launch event?

It's all not gone well. So they're pretending it didn't happen and are starting again from now ~ anyone with a 5 year old will recognise this technique...

It could be the launch event that was supposed to happen when the press fleet was then given to the Red Cross.

Drove the new Defender today. Here’s a picture of a tree through the alpine window.

Wow that is so cool having slit windows in the gutters............ but hang on, haven’t Land Rover Station Wagons had them since the 1950’s .ah maybe Richard Aucock is a new boy in the PR office so doesn’t know about these things from last century..... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

This is a tier 2 launch PR launch. Local ride and drive for the regional press ‘motoring correspondents’, Minor lifestyle publications and influencers.

Namibia was tier 1, first drive, influential press etc. JB

Exactly - but they can’t say that a Insta influencer or the Wiltshire Gazette and Herad motoring correspondent aren’t important.

As a group tier 2 are also the most righteous, entitled and hard to manage group of the the lot. JB

TBH after this load of bull from the 1st stream guys on this launch with their spouting word for word JLR’s press pack bumf, I would sooner read the 2nd stream guys who don’t stand to loose as much by not toeing the party line. I also now prefer watching privateers on YouTube using their own cars rather the utter crap that was shown by Top Gear and Car Wow standing beside the same two cars that only moved to wash the rain off them in all the videos, same goes for all the Namibia videos, 99% of them appear to have had to be submitted to the LR publicity people, before we were allowed to see them. They were all so alike it got boring watching the same wreck at the side of the pass, the same elephants trotting across the trail.......
IslanRover, PowerfulUK and the privateers were all more informative and interesting to watch. LR PR and the main stream press gets 3/10 for their efforts. I don’t do Facebook or Instagram etc so no idea what LR posted on those sites but going on what was reported to here it wasn’t much better and as for the guy who is the head of PR and his crappy posts on FB/Instagram I don’t think he did LR any favours.
TBH the young lady who posted about her black 110 S on YouTube was more informative to most new to the brand people than anything that the LR PR accounts posted anywhere, and she wasn’t being paid to do it! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

You made some very fair points there I have to agree Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

If you were given an all expenses paid trip to Namibia to do some off roading and report on it you're not likely to bite the hand that feeds you. Have you noticed with all car reviews by the professionals if there are any bad points they are always sandwiched in between the good points. The thing is if you constantly slate a particular manufacturer you're hardly likely to be invited to the next jolly.

Having watched the documentary over the last three weeks about Rupert Murdoch it has only confirmed my very sceptical views of the press. As mentioned above you are better looking at owner/driver reviews on You Tube. Defender 90XS SW
