Laughing The trailer / roof tent is set up permanently.

Can't be very aerodynamic. Don't you risk the tent flying away as you drive around? Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

@camelman
Wow great job. I like how you converted the 130. And great photography too. Thx.

Which roof tent you prefer the normal or with hardcase?

What are the benefits resp. cons of a hardcase tent?

How dangerous is it too be in such a tent in thunder and lightning weather? 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history)

@cyberhusky.
If the weather is bad, the hardshell is amuch nicer place to be and I've slept fine through some pretty horrible weather up in the Lakes. The downsides are it is much heavier. This particular design is very slimline (15cm deep) which helps aerodynamics but restricts how much bedding you can leave in the tent. It obviously has a much bigger footprint as well. This isn't a problem on the 130 but could be on a 90 or 110 as it will use up all of your roofrack space.
I always find soft shell tents flap to much when the weather gets really bad

Saying that, when the weather isn't so bad, the soft shell is great. Reminds me when i lived in one for a year one the way back home from Cape Town Smile.

If I got stuck in a bad electrical storm, I think I'd be in the double bed in the back of the 130 with the dog Wink
