CTEK 5 or CTEK 7?
Fed up with a flat battery due to lack of use in the 110. Time for decent charger - already have a standard charger.
But time for a one designed being left connected. So a CTEK 5 or CTEK 7? Or just spotted Halfords do a CTEK 10 1999 Defender TD5 110

I would opt for the CTEK 5 it will provide everything you need at a price that is fair. I have one and I cannot fault it.
Also, buy the Connect Eyelet it makes connection to the battery so much easier For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

If you have DRLs that work on voltage put an inline switch in otherwise your DRL’s will light up after a little while.......I found that out!

The 5 will do everything you want, they are excellent bits of kit Thumbs Up 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

I use a CTEK 5 works very well. ^^^ Yes I discovered the DRL's come on after a while, with the neighbours knocking on the door to say lights are on. James

+1 for the 5. DRL's and dash-cam needed a isolation switch but it does a great job. 2010 XS USW

I had a Ctek 10 until I backed over it (disco 1 - Ctek 0) replaced it with the 7.0 and can't honestly say I have noticed I difference in performance when charging the discovery battery. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Disco 4 battery just died suddenly.

Just waiting on delivery of a 10a NOCO Genius10uk from Amazon (£119) to see if it can 'resurrect' the battery as some have claimed...…..we'll see Confused

Oh, and ordered the Towing Socket form Martin also. 2000 D2 TD5 - ahhh bless
2006 D3 - no longer with us and sadly missed
1997 300tdi d90 - now with electrics that work!
- now with a brand new custom made soft top fitted
…...…...............….new chassis now all fixed and driving like new
2010 D4 alas no more, but a lovely colour (Nara)
2016 D4 battery magically fixed with NOCO charger

I have two 5s, a 10, and a 25. The 5s are completely adequate for a Defender, though if I could only have one it would be the 10.

The 5s are my "go to" chargers and presently the Defender and Disco2 are both connected to preserve the batteries during these low-mileage times. I'd grab the 10 if I needed rapidly to charge either battery from flat, due to the 10% rule of thumb. The 25 I only use on big batteries like that on my mobile crane.

My recommendation would be the MXS5.0.

I've got various NOCOs and CTEKs, mainly for our boat's batteries, but the CTEKs seem that bit better made and less plastic-y

Both work fine, but the CTEKs are my favourites.

Why do you put the 5 ahead of the 10 ?
