You have a washer and a spring washer. The spring washer is to stop the fastener from coming loose from vibrations.
You probably have a washer and a spring washer for each fastener. The spring washer goes next to the nut. |

Many thanks Balvaig! In other words the spring washer is the last thing to go on the screw/bolt before the nut?

Correct. The spring washer is compressed by the nut, thus securing the fastening.

As above, flat washer to the body then spring washer then nut. Ray
