Alarm volumetric/interior Protection Sensor
Hi,

I have a Defender Puma, 2007, with the LR alarm installed. I'm using the FOB to look the car and setting the alarm, but I'm not sure if the interior volumetric/motion sensor actually works or is even installed.
Some ba...d broke in to the car through one of the rear sliding windows, fortunate the didn't manage to lift out my heavy tool box thru the broken window, but I'm not sure if the alarm went off or not.
(picture of the temporary "plywood window" below)
So my question is - is the volumetric/motion sensor installed as a "standard" from manufacturing and if so, how do I test it and where is located (pls. share a picture if you have)?
If not installed, can it be retrofitted and is it a lot of work to install it.

The volumetric sensor is a little lozenge-shaped thing set into the trim above one of the B posts (it's UK drivers side but I don't know if it's handed for LHD vehicles.

It should be set by default if locked with the fob. It's possible to lock the vehicle without arming the sensor by locking with the key.

The easiest way to test it is to lock the vehicle with one of the front door windows open and then wave your arm inside. Darren

Not very nice attitude macfrank!!

You seams to be very experienced - so is it possible to install a sensor if it isn't installed , and is the wiring already behind the side-wall?

Hope you get well soon.

Agreed, if you didn't mean to come across as insulting macfrank then I'm afraid you have.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now as you may have been referring to the intruder?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hopefully the "idiots" referred to the people who broke the window, not the forum members!

This is the one on my double-cab, remember the roof trim is different on an SW or USW due to the Alpine Light window.

The photo is taken from the front passenger seat looking backwards over the drivers seat, it is a right hand drive vehicle.

Thanks for the picture blackwolf!

I definitely do not have it installed.
I will try to find out if it is possible to install one.

Hello Martin 911-87

Welcome aboard... just to add to the advice so far, I wanted to check mine
prior to purchase and on the advice of a specialist who checked the vehicle
I was told just to sit in the car, arm it via the fob and the intruder sensor then
becomes active (from memory) 15-20 seconds after the fob is pressed, so if
you get no alarm immediately...wait... then wave your arms around Exclamation

Good Luck SKIP

Thanks dorsetsmith, much appreciated!

There is a recess behind the fabric in the ceiling panel at the location for the sensor.
I will check if the cables are there.
Are the wiring routed from the floor up through the B-pillar or from the A-pillar via the roof panel above the side window?
