Hi James

Yep, so I have the southdown guard with the towing attachment and recovery eye off my 110, and I currently have the non-adjustable style towpack on my 130, thinking about fitting the southdown unit on the 130 to gain a bit of departure angle, but not sure how best to extend. I considered finding someone to cut off and weld on the extension piece from the standard 130 tow pack but sure it will bring loads of liability issues, I also wonder if having something adjustable on a dixon bate style slider on the southdown guard may be better - potentially a lot of weight to try and remove/refit as needed then though?!

I don't have a good photo at the moment but its this style:

Your suggestion is nearly what I have done. Had the work done by a professional welder. I used the standard 130 bracket, as per pic., he did a cad drawing for side pieces drawn up to pick up on Southtown holes for hitch, added a 60mm further spacer then welded these sides to the back of the original hitch. The extra 60mm was because i wanted the tailgate to miss a trailer jockey wheel.

You could cut the top off the original 130 hitch and lower brackets for arms and bolt it to your existing Southdown hitch.? Cheers

Cheers James

I did wonder if the holes would line up and like you say just cut the original plate down and bolt it on, I'll have to measure up and see Smile
130 is in for an MOT and some wheel bearings at the mo, so once it's back I'll have a look đź‘Ť

Cheers

There is 60mm extra qbetween top mounting hole and original rear plate of 130 std hitch.

Its also dropped a fraction to allow for HD suspension. As you can see I got it slightly wrong as ball now on top hole set! Cheers

Just to follow on from my 1.3 T box post, really pleased with it. quite a few miles under its belt and a fair few towing, working very very well with my 130 and has taken out a great deal of backlash from the previous LT230. granted an element may be the replacement intermediate shaft (came from Ashcrofts along with both boxes) and could be from gearbox change but there wasnt a great deal of noticeable wear on either outgoing items. Just happy to have it up and running, pulling well and doing what is was made for. Cheers

Lovely weekend camping in mid Devon this weekend, was a bit wet Friday! Went in minimalistic mode!

Had to cut our way into camp too!

It was nice to be out, some wet sections there too, not the 130!

So, having had this painted back around end of lockdown 1, I haven't washed it yet, so pleased to have fitted the Gwyn Lewis mud shields
