Tyre Size Recommendation Needed
Hello, long time stalker, first time poster.

Our 1991 D110 arrives ships from our builder this week. It spent its life in Spain and was recently imported to the US. Body and interior resto completed and all the mechanicals have been fully serviced. We were able to purchase Drago, (his new name), before the trimming out was completed.

We have a set of Rovers North Wolf wheels on the way and I have been waivering on tire size for weeks.
Hoping the community here could offer a recommendation. Drago has a 2” Terrafirma lift and I don’t want to run spacers. Considering the Cooper Discoverer STT PRO in 235/85 or the wider 265/75, worried about clearance. Thoughts on those two sizes?

Here’s Drago as he sits currently, please note the KBX grill, bumper and brush guard will be removed and the front will go back to stock once he arrives.

Cheers!

Cracking Land Rover you have got there

You should have no problem with Cooper Discoverer STT PRO but go for this size 235/85/16

Defenders do not look right with smaller tyres For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

GILARION, thanks for the compliment on Drago! We search for almost two years, trying to find the right D110. We were super excited to find a completely rust free example with only 60,000 miles on the clock.

He looks pretty strange at the moment with the stock tires. 235/75s will be a big improvement, just wondering if the 265/75s will be too wide and cause clearance issues. Also concerned about the 265/75s on a 6.5” wide rim.

235/85/R16 or 265/75/R16 will both be fine. I currently run the 265's on a fairly stock 110 with a 1" lift and no issues on clearance and find they fill the arches nicely, though the offset on your wheels will also impact on this.

Thanks Simon! The RN wheels are the same specs as the OEM wolfs. 16'”x 6.5”, 2-3/4 offset.

Good luck with it!

I would go for 265 but not cooper, either bfg or kumho,

If your rim width is 6.5 you might be better on 235’s, I’m running a 7” rim which is the minimum width for a 265 tire as stated on a few tyre size sites.

Personally I would go for 255/85R16 if you can get them. A little taller than either of the sizes you have mentioned, but not too wide.

I have KO2s on our lifted outback and find them pretty finicky. I do like how they perform though.

I have the 265 all terrains on my defender, before i had the coopers stt pro.
I do a lot of of motorway miles and long journeys from here England to Portugal or Italy and the coopers couldn't cope with it.
The all terrains are perfect.
If I needed new tires now I would go for the kumho MT.

Thanks everyone for the responses so far. I’d love to see some feedback and or pics from people running wolfs as well.

6.5” is the minimum width per Cooper for the 265/75s. I do think the 255/85s would be a safer option in terms of fit all around. With that being said, I think the 265/75s would look better.

Cheers!

I’ve had 235,265/75 and now 255/85/16 - I would definitely go for the 255’s. They look better than the 265’s on a 110 as they are taller and fill the arches better. Plus they lift your gearing slightly. The 265’s look nice as they are 10mm wider, but they look small in comparison to the 255’s
