Its been way longer that I hoped so time for a little update. Despite being told it'll take a week, the Defender is still at the bodyshop. Last week I was told it should be done next Monday but I went for a quick look this afternoon and they still hadn't sanded it down so this estimate is also seeming unlikely Big Cry They are generally considered good at what they do round here though so whatever, got used to wanting to drive places and not being able to now anyway Confused

In the mean time the parts pile in the back of the garage is starting to build up again. especially with the edition of this Superwinch husky and bumper that was picked up this afternoon. Scenes as getting the Front runner bullbar was proving quite time consuming I thought I'd get one of these to use in the mean time.

Also finally managed to persuade my father to get a Land Rover, he settled with this nice ex military one. And yes my roof rack is fitted so we can take it to the welder tomorrow and get the railing reattached Laughing

Hi yes, I got it back last week. Took way longer than expected but oh well at least it looks really good. Spent a while putting all the stuff back onto it. Just got to put the snorkel on and then the spare wheel on the bonnet. Also bought a camel trophy bull bar but haven't decided whether to put it on or not yet.

Even got the long anticipated centre seat fitted.

And just to put the transformation into perspective here are some before and after shots from the day I bought it and after the majority of the stuff has been fitted.

They look to have done a cracking job. Well worth the wait I suppose.

Looks good. Wheels look ace.

A word of warning... I had a pre Td5 (a military wolf actually) bonnet on my Td5, and it used to "just" touch the top of the engine and gave really horrid vibs and noise through the vehicle. If you get a spare on yours I reckon it'll most likely touch the sound proofing.

On another Td5 90 I had, I took the soundproof off and it seemed to help (and as it was a soft top with no soundproof, then more engine noise didn't really matter)

Reckon your hilift might get covered in road dirt as well.

Thankyou everybody Very Happy I am pretty chuffed with the outcome and after I've sorted out the few last little things it will be perfect! As I am still waiting to start the next job the extra wait wasn't really causing me much inconvenience so yeah Id say worth the wait. Way ahead of you Jim I got rid of that useless plastic ages ago, it made no difference whatsoever Laughing High lift has a protective cover on the way to help with that just couldn't resist putting it on for the photo shoot 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon
