Programming new Immobiliser key fob (my 2016) ??
I’ve lost one of keys with fob, the smart two button one with chrome strip down the side.

I thought it would be easy to buy a new key and immobiliser fob and get it programmed by Landrover but for some reason or other they say they have to take both the internal door panels off my defender 90 SW to program the immobiliser.

Is this true as they are quoting over £300 just for coding the new immobiliser fob??

autologic will do up to 2012 and some 2013 on the older style fobs plus some of the new style cases depending on which version they have. try a few bigger independents perhaps

After you had it done elsewhere go back to the guys you mentioned and let them explain in full detail, over a cup of tea, why they would want to take the door panels off. Just to waste their time. Twisted Evil And throw in something like "Does your quote include removal of the headlining? In the workshop manual for the late MY2016 it says, the ultrasonic sensor in the roof has to be re-adjusted to match a new fob's frequency." Utter nonsense, of course. Just to see the look on their faces Rolling with laughter

I took my daughters Peugeot key to Timpsons...cheap as chips, programmed & worked a treat.

Thank you for all the replies. Apparently there’s some modules connected to the ECU that need replacing, oh and by the way I forgot to add on the 1 , it’s £1300 I’ve been quoted.

From reading on other sites, the immobiliser module was changed in 2015 and the car has to be programmed to the keys.

Still find it all bizarre, luckily the supplying Non LR dealership is paying for this. The irony of it is is that there’s probably some nefarious characters out there that can break in and start my defender without a sodding key and fob.

For some bizarre reason, 2 seperate Timpson booth's cocked up doing a spare key for me.

I had to wait 5 days for them to get the blank in, then they Censored up the cutting and refused to order another key for thier mistake as it was in their words ' abit tricky '

Told to go to LR and get a new key.

Well took the car to Landrover today. The price excluding new key and key fob was £783. For some reason they had to order 2 new physical keys in and replace the barrel Ignition lock and the door lock. 5 hours labour.

I configured a new key fob through Nanocom was very easy and the new key fob was ordered from an Italian website and programming was a breeze. 2016 Defender 90 Adventure Edition

I didn’t get any problems with Timpsons for key cutting years ago. But I guess it can very much depend on who is doing it and where. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Ignition key, blipper, fuel cap key and steering lock key are making holes in my pockets.

Cheers

For those Nanocom experts.

Is it possible to add a used FOB using the Nanocom? If not clear, from one Defender to another one.

I know GAP tool cannot do it with used FOBs

Thanks Puma 110" SW
