13pin towing socket installation
I have got to fit a genuine 13pin LR005919 towing electics kit to a 2012 90.

The 90 has already got a genuine 7pin kit which was dealer fitted into the recess in the rear crossmember instead of the usual bolt on brackets. Are 7pin and 13pin sockets the same bolt / screw fitting? Once the old 7pin has been removed can the new 13pin fit in this recess?

I know you can get adaptors but I doubled up on mine so I have 7 pin and 13 pin allowing me to tow anything without a 13 to 7 adaptor. Hence can tow a caravan or 7 pin trailer.

Be careful to check the 13 pin kit is for a caravan if you intend to tow one and hence has all the supplies you need I brought a genuine kit and it didnt have the permanent live for the fridge, charging and ATC, so ended up selling it on and getting a maypole kit and splicing into the 7 pin loom and using the purple permanent live and a VSR for the caravan supplies, same applies to a horse box you may want internal lights etc fed from the LR DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

The genuine LR kit LR005919 does have the permanent and ignition feeds.
