Wales 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black
Tested the battery this morning and i have 12.3v so assume the battery seem ok?

So, a big draw or the alternator throwing out too much voltage under load?

Stripygitface, I'm not sure i follow you, disconnect the alternator and leave over night and the reconnect in the morning and test for parasitic load?

Should have explained myself better.

If the diodes in the alternator have gone, then the alternator will draw back out of the battery, therefore you can measure the load with the alternator connected and disconnected, or leave the car with the alternator disconnected to see if this solves the issue of it going flat

Aha i get you, i didn't realise that could happen, i will try that thank you Thumbs Up

I am planning on an expedition to Morocco this year (Virus permitting!!?) i might buy a new one and have this one recond as a spare, what make is the Genuine? there's loads listed as options Confused 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

I still use mine (9 years old) for heavy duty 12v stuff in the garden etc.

I currently run 2 Odysseys with Blue Sea split management. Never had an issue. MobileCentre kitted me out Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Sorry I should have been a bit clearer, I meant the alternator.
In fairness my original battery lasted a good 8 years
I did a lot of research and settled on the National lunar set up, I planned to use Odyssey’s but a red and yellow top Optima came up at a good price.

I might just bite the bullet and buy a new alternator and an odyssey 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

Try to load the battery with some ligh bulb, like H4. The voltage with this light on, should drop approx to 11,5V, but not to 10V. Or just reconect tha battery in car, switch on lights and measure the voltage. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

The problem is the Red Top Optima, its loosing charge and getting excessively hot when on charge via the ctek or the alternator.

Problem solved Very Happy

Trouble is i need to spend out on a new battery, i have heard very good things about the Odyssey so that's the direction i am going.
