Wipers suddenly stopped - not fuse?
This morning, stated the engine, turned on wipers and they moved up an inch then stopped.

Fuse is ok.
There is a faint click when the switch is moved from off to on, and a slight current draw.

Any common things to check before I rip it apart. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

It could be a problem with drive system or motor. Can you feel much resistance when you try to move wipers by hand?

Can you hear the motor running?

Hi Andy hope your all well. The wipers both move slightly if pushed, so the rack is still connected to the gear boxes, and I can’t move them any more than the free play would allow, so I think the rack is still connected to the motor.

The motor does not run, but there is a slight current draw, and relay click when the switch is moved.

So I’m suspecting the motor has died.

Dash board out to get to it I presume? Has anyone got a wiring diagram? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Pull the wiper arms off the windscreen and try again. If it works your motor is done. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

How long since they last were used? (I know it’s not your everyday drive). Could the spindles be seized?

They were last used yesterday, daily drive at the moment for my son! I’ll try the wiper lift test when I get home. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Agreed, if when he pulls up the wiper arms and tries again and it does not move that would be the next thing to check Thumbs Up 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

To get access to the motor and the mechanism, it’s a very simple job, all though a many screw, operation. Easy for someone of your ability, just fiddly and not ideal in this weather if it can’t be done in your garage.

Give both wiper arms a good jiggle back and forwards and see if that frees them. A very common problem is that as the wheelboxes and rack wear, the rack jams on the gear wheel it is supposed to be driving. A little movement of the spindle will generally free this off, but it is a warning sign that the wheelboxes and rack are on the way out.

Be careful if the ignition is on, since the wipers will probably attempt to park when freed (it is generally safer to remove the key, jiggle the arms, then turn the ignition on to see if they then park).

If this frees them, you can unfortunately expect the problem to repeat and probably become worse rather than better. A temporary fix in this case is to remove the arms from the spindles, withdraw the rack completely, turn each spindle through 180 degrees, then re-insert the rack, and refit the arms. This has the effect of bringing an unused segment of the driven gear in each wheelbox into use, and since the problem is usually a combination of wear in the rack and the gears it will often buy you some time.

Spindles are definitely not seized. I’ll access the works tomorrow and see what’s going on.
Anyone got any pointers to the wiring colours and pin outs on the motor so I can test the electric side before I rip it all apart? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Were it me? I’d check power to the plug at the motor next. But what has been already written is worth consideration. I doubt your wheel boxes have seized up. I’d seriously consider the motor is faulty.
