My td5 heater is more than adequate and gets hot, sure, it takes a few miles to warm up on a cold morning but once its warm it stays like that and I have to turn it down after about 15 minutes so I would say that the op has a problem somewhere.
But then my driving involves rural b roads at decent speed to get the engine warm, sat in traffic this may be a different story, perhaps it depends on type of driving you are doing that determines the heater efficiency? This does seem a common complaint and I am intrigued! |

My drive to work is 20 mins, and heater is just getting warm. Recently some motorway driving 25 or 70mile trips produces heat about the same as a 20min drive. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Water pump test. Cold engine, and top hose bleed screw removed.

Slight update: While the car was in the garage (playing hunt the oil leak) I mentioned the heater issue and they flushed the matrix through with a bit more force than I used with the hose pipe and they felt the heater output was better. I have to agree, it does feel warmer.
Maybe the next step is to replace the matrix. Something like: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111825340474?ss...1436.l2649 Which looking at the heater box, remove bolts top and bottom that go to the bulkhead, pull pipes off, and pull heater away from the bulkhead, remove the ring of screws around the top of the matrix and remove it ? 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Most of the crap on the bin is from the heater box including what looks like a bit of bin bag  Click image to enlarge After removing the matrix, I poured some fresh water into the matrix and then emptied it out. I did look at them originally but I couldn't quite justify the expense of the Alisport one when the heating system should work (and used to) lets see how the replacement matrix goes. 1999 Defender TD5 110
