Ireland 1997 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Orkney Grey
300Tdi engine parameters
Hi

I have a project defender new to me. Today whilst driving on the motorway 70mph in 5th reasonably comfortable I was scanning the gauges to try and baseline some values. Unfortunately I have no points of reference.
300Tdi 110 with a snorkel 3 inch exhaust ,standard turbo ,boost pin and Oring upgraded, Discovery intercooler
@70mph
1.25 in boost
475 EGT (is this high)?
4200 RPM this seems out to me through entire range idles at a 1000 RPM
31,5in tyres 285/60/R18
@60MPH
1 in
400 EGT
4000RPM
@50 mph TBH 5th gear is too low so figures are from 4th gear
.8 boost
320 EGT
4000RPM
If anyone knows there readings at this set point then I can start to gauge an average.

Thanks in advance

Very Happy I wish I could sit at 70mph "reasonably comfortably"!

I don't think I can help too much at this stage as I haven't fitted my EGT yet, and like you I'm suspicious of my rev counter.

On the boost, I think my turbo's pretty tired. It takes a lot of revs to give boost, and it falls off pretty quickly, but I don't think your 1.25 will be too far off.

I will be watching this thread with interest though, to give myself the same comparators when I'm finished. Donald

Either you're a braver soul then me, or have more faith in your brakes! Very Happy

Wildrover - this could end up being the definitive 300Tdi engine parameters thread! Donald

4200 RPM is nearly max governed engine speed Shocked

With standard gearing and 31 inch tyres it should be a shade under 3000 rpm at 70 mph Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Standard transfer box? I’m with grafty, that’s smoking at 4200, I wouldn’t go there.
