How to find out/see if an ECU is remapped?
I have just bought a D2 commercial, I have absolute zero history for it.

I have just driven it down my farm road and the thing flies! I definitely think its remapped, but does anyone know if there is a way of telling apart from removing it and sending it to a tuner.

thanks

Maybe depending on the age does the ECU look likes it been opened and resealed with sealant?
Or the turbo has extra turns/threads showing on the pushrod? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I suppose you could get one of these GPS apps that calculates your 0-60mph time? If it’s noticeably below what a stock Td5 is capable of, then yours will have some form of remap! Charlie

Get in touch with Jose @ Inside and ask him if he remapped it.

If not then ask him to and then it will really fly!

You could plug in a nanocom or other ECU reader, and see what the file map name is,

Chances are if it's been re-mapped then the new programmer would have called it something else other than "sthle022-sttlp010.map" (this is one of the ones for a defender)

But.. they could have kept the name a factory name to make it harder to trace if it was mapped when under LR's warranty, so a dealer couldn't tell...

In older typ engine ECUs marked MSBxxxxxx (x is a number) the remap was only possible by exchange the memory chip inside. Mostly the new chip is in a socket. The ECU had to be opened for remap.
Newer ECUs marked NNNxxxxxx (like NNN00120) can be remaped with diagnostics equipment. You can download the map from ECU with Nanocom and compare the file with original map file. Or ask someone for this comparsion. Often remap file in ECU is encrypted, standard file is not encrypted. It is possible do decrypt these files. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

I know that this thread is old, but since I have the same question, I bring it up.
To download the map, you need a nanocom or forscan can do it also? I wanna find out if my EGR as been mapped out before I replace it.
G'day Y'all Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)
