04 110 XS TC Issues
So the Nanocom has been telling me the rear right ABS sensor has been failing so bought some Intermotor replacements.

Changed them over today which was a right pain as one of the sensors was full seized in in place! Had to pull the hub off and push it out.

Eventually replaced them (left and right) but the TC is going mad now, engaged as soon as I pulled off the drive, then turned off. Kicked in again very harshly and pulled the whole 110 right!

At the minute the TC is turned off. Any reason why this has happened? A mate suggested it could be an air gap issue. If so how does one set the gap? Instagram @defender_ventures

I had a similar issue with my Disco 2 after fitting new front axle ball joints. The n/s sensor was giving an "intermittent output" which clearly fooled the SLABS ECU into thinking that the wheel was rotating slower than the others, so it braked the other three wheels. Since this did nothing to solve the problem, it braked harder and harder. After about 3 times it figured there was a fault and disabled itself. Changing both sensors solved the issue.

It could be a faulty sensor, incorrect gap, defective inductor ring, or bad connection.

What faults does the Nanocom give? Also worth checking the individual wheel outputs with Nanocom (assuming you can do this on a Defender) to narrow it down.

I was fooled by my first edition WSM for the Disco saying clearly that the sensors can be removed and refitted with no problems. I later discovered that the second edition says that they must not under any circumstances be removed from the hubs, and if a new is needed then a whole new hub assembly must be fitted.

As far as I was aware there is no adjustment in setting the gap? The sensors just push all the way 'home' as it were?

Is the copper bush ok? Maybe a daft suggestion but if the old one was tight coming out, has the new one definitely gone all way down? > 110 XS Double Cab

The sensors self-adjust and should be pushed all the way in until they contact the ring.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Righto ill push them in a little further then.

Nancom gave rear right sensor electrical failure - cleaned it all up, cleared the code returned instantly. Tried 3 times hence new sensors.

The rear left was seized solid in place and had to be knocked put from the disc side. New copper bush installed.

Rear right came out with reasonable ease and new sensor push in.

Though surely if i push too far they will touch the ring and grind off? Instagram @defender_ventures

This piqued my interest...

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/abs-sensor-air-gap.214807/ suggests they will 'self gap'

What was the error code? This is also interesting https://landroverforums.com/forum/discover...sis-11257/ > 110 XS Double Cab

Thanks for the help chaps. Appear to have fixed it. Gave each sensor a knock in with a drift mallet and no more issues, at least in the past 100 miles. Instagram @defender_ventures
