United Kingdom 2003 Defender 110 Td5 SW Belize Green
Down on power/not boosting...
TD5 220k on it, replaced exhaust manifold, new MAF fitted. Wastegate appears to be free moving, new injector harness.
It seems to run ok after disconnecting the battery but then loses power again after a time. Starts instantly hot or cold. Doesn’t smoke excessively. Any prime suspects? It doesn’t seem to make much difference when MAF is disconnected, was an eBay special MAF sensor. 2003 Defender 110 TD5 SW

The engine should run OK with the MAF unit disconnected, it won’t be at its best but will perform fairly well (my 110 TD5 will still do 70mph)

It is difficult to see if wastegate shaft is moving without removing cover guard, two pop rivets. If car had been unused for some time, it would certainly be worth more attention.

What fuel pressure are you getting? Mine was dog slow and wouldnt boost when the high pressure stage of the fuel pump died. When was the fuel filter last changed? 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

Not sure how to measure, I assume I'd have to take it to a garage? I'd imagine the filter is way overdue going on the rest of the previous maintenance! Red plug was full of oil, I've given it a damn good wash out with electrolube, I think it'll need a few more goes... 2003 Defender 110 TD5 SW

If the red plug has oil in it, then you should chance the injector harness as that's were it leaks from, and also clean out the whole loom from the harness down to the red plug. 2002 110 TD5 White
