How to disarm alarm on a 2015 Puma?
Hi

I need to disable the alarm to go on a ferry. There is no button on the dash and the manual says that even turning the key in the lock will set it. Not that my key seems to turn the lock anyway and I don’t want to force it. Has anyone worked out how to do this? The fob only has two buttons, lock and unlock. Thanks.

Thanks. But manual, says locking with the key will also set the alarm, unless that is wrong.

probably unlikely in a defender, which ferry route?

most routes from the uk are fairly short anyway, if your battery is in good health shouldn't be a issue even if it does go off...

well if your going to Santander it's maybe not a good idea Whistle

I can stand on the roofrack on mine and rock it vigorously from side-to-side and up-and-down and it doesn't set the alarm off. I don't think a ferry will be a problem.

I lock mine with the key everyday with my dog in the cab and the alarm never goes off, if I forget and use the remote the alarm will go off soon after.

FWIW, I'm regularly on Cal-Mac ferries to the Hebrides. Maybe the seas are rockier here.....?

There's usually a poster somewhere on the car deck advising that alarms should be disabled - but clearly many folk don't read them; don't know how to do that; or their cars don't have that facility.

Our 'other car' a Yeti, has a button on the bottom of the B pillar which alters the alarm set function for ferry crossings.

I know it's a pain when standing outside (on a good day!) and the car alarms are going off repeatedly. So, if I had a car which allowed this, and there was a way to keep it secure and avoid the alarm going off, I'd use it.

Having said all that, with the LR I normally leave the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked... I just don't perceive there to be any real risk on the ferries I use. I guess I might not do that on other sailings. Donald

Aye, like I say, I probably wouldn't do it anywhere else other than the w. or n. of Scotland.

We went across to the Netherlands last year, from Newcastle, and I'm pretty sure I locked it then.

I think the main thing here though isn't about a car running its battery flat sounding an alarm, but probably for the benefit of the crew who won't want to be working alongside several car alarms sounding off all the time. Donald

Lock it with the key only, not the fob which will disable the volumetric alarm. I wasn't aware that the Puma alarm had tilt or shock sensors, only doors, bonnet and volumetric. Defender 90XS SW
