broken glow plug puma
Hello,

despite being very cautious it seems that 2 of my glow plugs might be broken

I sprayed wd40 a week prior to remove the plug, I warmed up the engine, I used a torque wrench set on 20NM
2 came out very easily but 2 other wont pull out, they dont look broken, the tread is out but they wont pull out.
they dont rotate easily, I still need to use the wrench to rotate them
the core looks it is still attached to the outside body, I used a open wrench to check if the core was rotating simultenously when I was unscrewing the body

can it be the plug is still in 1 piece but the hole is just narrow and some gunk preventing me to pull the plug?

what are my options now?

thank you in advance

Fred

I had the same problem and I managed to remove mine by pulling on them and twisting at the same time. Pulling them up and outwards with a smaller spanner whilst turning with a socket. 1953 80"

Normally it’s burnt carbon deposits on them that stops them coming out. The trick is to be able to pull enough, and hard enough, without them breaking. That your time would be my advice.

One of the indies I know has a trick for this: prior to any work being done on injectors/glow plugs, he gets the customer to drive around for a few days with some 2-stroke oil in the tank.

that way, the injectors/glow plugs come out more easily --
