Thanks Dave that explains a lot I was not aware that shift R was relatively new on the market.
I notice after shift R there is a V2 maybe it has a revised design? 2016 Defender Landmark 90

The reason why it comes in two pieces is that is designed for lhd and rhd. You´ll notice that in the start of the installation video.

Installing it is easy and I didn´t have to bang the two pieces together 2009 Land Rover Defender 90 SVX Soft top 60th Anniversary Edition

shift R
Any body had any problems with vibration/ rattling with the Shift R, its not the weights as they have already been glued in place

Bit the bullet and ordered a shift r version 2.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade can feel a massive difference. There's no wobble on the gear stick and don't need to use tape or anything.

Likewise, I prefer the Shift-R version ... Easier to fit and no need to 'tinker' with excess grease or gluing bits to prevent rattles [or bits coming loose!]

Driven vehicles with both versions ... both do exactly the same job Thumbs Up

How much grease did you put in the housing? The instructions are a little vague and i dont want to over grease!

When I fitted mine I only put a little bit in and wiped it round, that's what it said on the instructions and I used the new plastic bit on the bottom not the old land rover one. I greased that up as well.

Have you watched the You Tube fitting video? I fitted mine whilst watching that and it’s straightforward.

Thanks BOT very short video but looks like they have used minimal grease and the hardest thing about fixing the shift r will be removing the carpets!

That's the one, just unclipped it put a bit of grease on clipped back on then greased the top of gear box where it sits in. Then I greased around where the selector is a little bit nothing major and that was it.
Only lift the carpet from the passenger side, and unclipped the gear lever and swapped it over. Bit fiddly but saved taking it all out.
