If you want to remove the tank pick up, there is a special tool that you will need. Also, best to buy the gaskets between the pick up and the tank, just to be sure as it's a pain in the @$$ to do.
Are you sure that there is no leak in your system? Is the fuel filter loose? If it is the diesel bug, you'll have to slosh it around and pour out the contents as the tank has no other drain options that I know of. Check your tank breathers while you're at it. I hope this helps. |

Thanks that has helped a lot. I definitely want to avoid removing the pick up from the tank in that case. I am not sure it's blocked it's just behaving like it's being starved of fuel. If I remove the fuel lines from the tank I could try and draw some up another clear hose with a vacum gun . But I am nervous that I will loose all the fuel out of the lines and have to bleed everything which I have read on here can be a nightmare? Anyone know of a quick way of ruling out the pickup being blocked?

Excellent idea.
I guess I can separate the flow at the filter and run my own line from there. I will report back |

I guess you can check the pick up and return lines with your vacuum gun or some other method, if they draw and return with no issues then your pick up should still be good and you should search for a possible problem downstream.

Thanks for all the help. I don't think I have a blocked pick up .I eventually got it to start after a while. I then tried to look at some live data using forscan. I am not familiar with live diagnostics so I wanted to check that the fuel rail pressure of 1.33 volts is correct for idle and what a pilot correction status of 128 means. Any ideas
