Okay - admit that I'm a total novice when it comes to mechanical matters, but I thought that I'd be able to get a bit further than this.
![]() I tried to remove the bolts from the driver's (RHD) side, it would not budge! It was also neither 17 nor 19mm as stated in the manual... Perhaps I'm attacking it from the wrong side? Jeez... |

On my first attempt to fit mine I couldn't budge the bolts either. I then noticed that the instructions required a torque wrench too. A quick trip to Halfords, and using the much longer torque wrench to undo the stubborn bolts they came off easily. Peter

You need one of these - for 1/2" drive sockets

You can get the fir tree nails of eBay cheaper. I left the top bolt in when I fitted mine not worth the agro but the near side is not to bad to get at just get a cheap breaker bar and some decent sockets I also took the steering guard bit off to make it easier.

If you need a hand pop round in the evenings, we are normally in. I would first give all the nuts and bolts a good squirt of plus gas, have a cup of tea and then give it a go. 2002 Defender 110 DC |

Thanks - I just might... if I can get some free time from baby duty. ![]() The top bolt looks like it is going to be a right pain, can barely see it w/ the radiator. ![]() |

Thanks, I appreciate it. ![]() There is no rush, I'm not going anywhere in the near future where I run the risk of damaging my steering. (touch wood). Unfortunately I've got to work on the Saturday, The Man is making me trek in to the office. ![]() Maybe Sunday if you're around? (and The Man doesn't demand my presence in the office again). |

fitted COR4 Steering Guard took 1/2 hour with no problems at all, looks good, fits well, just a shame there is no recovery points as I had to remove my Jate Rings DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |
