Best DAB Ariel?
Recently upgraded my standard stereo for a double din and added a DAB splitter to the existing Ariel.
This was rubbish.
Then I added a window mount one. Much better, but still not as good as any normal car andbstruggles to get FM or Dab in some areas.
What brand and model of Ariel do people use that actually works!

I can't really help but all I would add as a recent convert to DAB (in my company eurobox) is I've been suprised how bad the digital signal is over large swathes of the countryside.

Also forum sponsor Brendan had an offer on recently on the Nakawhatsitcalled aerial https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic65245.html?highlight=dab James

Same here using a powered splitter. Never had any signal loss using the standard aerial.

The only way I have managed to get decent broadcast radio reception in my defender is to use a roof rack mounted antenna on DAB.

The fm wing aerials I have tried have always been variable in their ability (not tried the Nakatenanga one) and after a few weeks just seem to stop working full stop. Stick on window ones have been utterly hopeless either on FM or DAB.

I switched to a DAB head unit with one of the mini magmount DAB antennas which was great until it got knocked off and the cable broke.

The solution came in the form of a short amateur radio 1/4 wave type non loaded antenna and a proper bolt on roof rack mount. It is relatively solid and works (although it does prune low trees like all the antennas on my roof rack). One thing I would say is that it is an expensive way of doing it but has outlived everything else. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

I must live in a rubbish signal area as the town centre is fine, but near my house is just awful.
Only concern is all other cars work great.
Mine can’t get anything but static on dab and FM.

Anyone used the nakatanakaka..... one?

It can vary a lot purely on signal where you are rather than the aerial equipment you have but both have a bearing on each other of course.
I found on mine with the original aerial even FM was rubbish never mind DAB.

I have the Naka Aerial kit, but won't be fitting it for quite a long time yet and don't have a DAB capable HU just yet either.

Plenty have bought them and fitted here so shouldn't be long before someone is along.

You could fit a booster, the Naka Aerial allows you to use just FM or DAB or both combined.

On factory HU you can use DIN FM with the Naka Aerial no problem.
Just Earth and power it from another source and it'll boost it, the factory Aerial is not boosted.
Most vehicles these days are as boosted as standard.

You can even boost the factory Aerial if you wanted. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. β›½οΈπŸ›’οΈπŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§πŸ§°βš™οΈ RED, WHITE & BOOST! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Spoke to auto engineer and they reckon the fault with mine may be a dodgy USB charger in the place of the cigarette lighter.
This is a blue sea one so i’m Doubtful...
Will see but for now not going to spend Β£80 on another antenna.
Hmmm...

I have a blue sea usb, when used it certainly interferes with fm reception. I was pointed in this direction by fellow forum members when I queried the performance of the older type nakatanenga aerial.
I don't know about DAB as I don't have it, I'm afraid.

Mine causes interference (maybe) when not in use. Just simply by being there.
Will see later when I get the dash off and remove it.
