Still leaking - passenger footwell
I few weeks ago I had water leaking into both footwells so I used tiger seal to seal across the foam gasket between the bulkhead and window frame, as well as behind the windscreen blocks (these had been refitted too soon after painting by the bodyshop who replaced the windscreen frame under warranty and the new paint had crinkled, leaving a poor surface for the rubber gaskets to seal against). The driver's side is now dry but I still have water dripping down behind the dashboard on the passenger side, appearing where the door stay is attached and dripping down onto the mat. The door seal looks OK (by Defender standards) so I suspect the culprit is somewhere else.
Where are the most likely places for me to check next?
Thanks

Does it depend on the angle the car is parked.
My leak was coming from the front gutter, which was dripping down onto the door seal at the kinking the door. This then ran into the car along the check strap and onto the mat. The door seal can also crease just at this point.
I fitted a new door seal and put a blob of mastic at the front gutter discharge point to divert the water away.

I found some holes in the foot well driver side - I wonder if it may be the same passenger side? Regards

My leak was the same as Adam's. Holes at the top of the driver's box. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Water running off the end of the channel under the windscreen runs into the engine compartment and goes down the bulkhead inside the engine bay. The water sometimes runs between the heater box and the bulkhead due to the seal deterioration. To alleviate this problem Land Rover supply a part LRO38612 Seal Fender which deflects the water forward along the wing so that it runs into the engine bay above the wheel arch.
The fender seal on the o/s will stop water running onto the control pedal area. Although on mine I only fitted one to the n/s.

I think there are 2 separate part nos for ns/os parts but I am not sure.

This cured my water ingress problem on the n/s.

I hope it helps

What foggy has said.

You can , if your dash is out, trace where the water comes back in and from the inspection under the bonnet, I can confirm it comes off the channel.

Extend the channel

when I was trying to find my leak I noticed that the water was pouring from the window channel into the engine bay and running down the bulk head... I was trying to think of a way to channel the water further from the engine bay..even over the outside of the fender, completely away from the engine bay..

If I come up with anything ill let you all know.. I will check out the part numbers above, but think I would rather stop the water from getting in the engine bay than deflect it inside the engine bay..... Regards
Adam

The Fender is about 6-8 inches long and provides a lip to stop the water. You could affix a strip of material all the way along the inside of the wing which would be effective. Or a channel section (gutter) fixed along the inside edge of the wing.

My Defender is fitted with these but the N/S one wasn’t sealed to the bulkhead so water has been dribbling down the engine side of the bulkhead. I refitted it with some sealant. The one on the O/S had fallen off and was wedged in the wiring and brake pipes below the wing. Refitted that one too, so now I need to get the hosepipe out to test it, or wait for it to rain. Thanks for the tip!
