Yes it works, I have been using screws in those clips for years, although I have never had any trouble knocking the plastic peg in either. The main advantage is that the clips are much easier to remove and you don't lose the plastic peg.

No I don't get his point about knocking the peg in either.

It would reduce the chances of wrecking the clip when removing them mind you.

New trim clips aren't expensive either, but would be good for getting out of trouble on a Sunday afternoon.

You can normally reuse most of them anyway.

They're about £1.50 for a pack of 10 from Britpart, so not exactly expensive to replace, cheaper than buying stainless screws. It's not as if they get removed often.
