Ashcroft's MT82 Output shaft kit "leakage"
http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/mt...t-kit.html

Well after plenty of reading, I've finally decided to fit the above mentioned kit.

I do, however, have a quick question for those in the know or who have fitted one. As this solution allows oil to "leak" from the gearbox to lubricate the splines, I was wondering if you would need to add a little extra oil to the gearbox to compensate for the leakage. From memory the gearbox only takes 2.2ltrs, I already have some BOT328 oil left over from when I changed it at 80,000k's. I don't want to overfill the gearbox, as that can cause other issues, but was interested in your thoughts in regards to if and by how much you might have to top it up.

In 10k miles mine hasn't leaked enough to be noticeable.

Instructions on how to fit the output shaft are in the August 2016 edition of Land Rover Owner International. Does not say how much oil they used but you could ask Ashcroft what they recommend.

No worries, thanks for that. Just wasn't sure.

Hopefully my LRO International turns up soon, always a bit of a delay in these neck of the woods.

Hi all! I just ordered my ashcroft mt82 output shaft kit. When replacing the old one unit I think it's better to change the Oring plastic seal no? Has someone the LR ref of this part? Because I think it doesn't come in the ashcroft kit.

Best regards

If you mean item 20 shown below, you do not need it (or item 21) with the Ashcroft kit - the additional part in the Ashcroft kit has seals built in (early ones used a conventional oil seal, the later ones use two o-rings). May be a good idea to replace the gearbox output oil seal (item 4) and the transfer box input oil seal.

Hi thanks for the advise. The o-ring I was telling about is the item 4. Do you have the LR ref part of this o-ring pkease? And maybe the LR ref part of the transfer box input oil seal too?

Best regards

Thanks for answer! About the transfer box input shaft oil seal... is it not a LR ref part?

Regards

Yes it is a L/R part, there are many part number prefixes other than LR (RTC, MWC, VHY, FTC and others)

I understand! With this do you know the ref of the front and rear axle oil seal plastic O-ring? This one where are connected the front and rear propshaft. I don't know this part's name in english.
