What's the issue that stops Blindo's on a balance machine??

What size rims and what tyre @blackwolf ?? Any pix

Blindos (because nothing else come close!) size 16 x 7 ET15, no spacers.

Many - generally slightly older - balancing machines mount the wheel face-inwards using a centre mandrel, and the very deep contoured centre of the Blindos mean that they don't fit on these machines. More modern machines mount the wheels in the same way as a wheel hub and will mount Blindos, and my tyre dealer said he could do this. However I don't like stick-on weights or even visible weights, and have also found that the dynamic nature of beads works much better especially with mud tyres, so I politely declined the offer of hideous stick-ons.

They look far further out than the ET would have you think, are they the std 235 tyres or a 265??

It's also possible that I bought ET0 Blindos, I really can't remember because it was so long ago! I'll see if I can see any markings on the back of the spare.

I'm totally torn between 255/85 and 285/75 km3's.
But now having seen 255 on a 7' wheel I doubt they will fit good on my 8' wheels.
Anyone gone from 255 to 285?

I went from 285 to 255, mainly because I like to open the window without filling the interior with mud, but also because the 285s are very susceptible to road surface phenomena and tramlining.

I cannot see myself going back to 285s.

Going to be replacing the 7.50x16 Michelin XZL’s on my Defender with KM3’s I think.
Has got the stock Ex-mod Wolf wheels on so do I replace with 7.50 x 16 or go metric with 235/85/16 ? not after wider tyres really, plus the spare is on the bonnet so no extra weight up there is a bonus!

I've done about 600 miles since fitting mine a week ago, and have to say that I am still extremely delighted. They are so smooth, quiet, and comfortable compared to the high-mileage KM2s I took off. That includes a run to Devon and back (250 miles). Quieter than the old ones, no vibrations, and mine are presently not balanced at all because (a) my Blindos won't fit the balancing machine, and (b) even if they did I won't let them stick stick-on weights on my wheels. In due course I will stuff a load of beads in them, if it becomes necessary.

They also look the business, especially on Blindos. Thumbs Up

How many miles did you put on the KM2’s before changing them? Mostly road miles?

Thanks

Mark

Around 80k miles on the KM2s, they had about 8mm of tread left on them. The original KMs (KM1s I guess) lasted for 100k.

I’ve spent far too many hours researching which size tyres to fit, 7.50r16 or 235/85/16 ?
Now after seeing many with 255/85/16 maybe I should just go with them!
Would they fit my Wolf rims ok, what are the advantages and disadvantages of fitting them?
Thanks for any info.

Yes they will fit fine, they give you more ground clearance and raises the gearing slightly / your speedo is likely to read accurate as they normally under read.

Piccy to show size difference

Thanks, that’s some size difference. Is that against a 235/85/16 ?
Any rubbing in the arches? Steering stops need adjusting? Loss of power with a 300tdi?
Sorry for all the questions but having to buy 5 is a big cost and I don’t want to get it wrong!!
