Since we don't understand too much or nothing about electronics, here is the question for the experts. Our Defender from 2009 with 94 kilometers on the odo, actually a new car, that never has been on the road until now, has problems with the instrument cluster. This means that the temperature display jumps up when the ignition is switched on, the oil control lamp does not light up and the rev counter does not work when the engine is running.

The device has now been to "specialists" for repairs twice. After installation, we deleted the fault memory and started the vehicle. Up to this point everything is fine and everything works perfectly. But after about 10 minutes with the engine running, the temperature display jumps up again and the rev counter does not work anymore. We expanded the instrument clusters of two other TD4s and built them into ours. There are no errors. The fault codes can no longer be erased with our instrument in place, and the nanocom gives the message "the system is not able to read the identity information from the car. Please recycle the ignition and retry".

I may have to say that our Defender did not have air conditioning from the factory. We have retrofitted these with original spare parts and carried out the corresponding cabling with the correct cable cross-sections and in the correct colors to the control unit (not a nice job). The control unit is of course still "old", which means that no information about an air conditioning system is available. Land Rover was unable to tell us whether this could lead to complications.

Does anyone know this problem ?

Any help is welcome and will be rewarded accordingly.
