Rear Door Lock Broken
Hi Guys,

I shut my rear door today and a bolt fell down on the ground, i brought her home and had a look.

I took the rear trim off and found all of the 4 nuts around the lock extremely loose, 2 of them missing (one fell to the floor when i removed the trim)

Pics below, Is this a common issue with our cars?, i tried to see where the bolt goes in and it seems to be tacked to an inaccesible area of the door.

I tightened the other 3 up but i have a 1500mile journey on wednesday so hope it'll be ok. Im wondering how does anyone replace these bolts without scrapping the whole door?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

My gf's 90 has just suffered exactly the same problem. I'm searching the forum to find any solution and thought I was in luck when I saw this thread. Sadly no replies were received. Did you ever get this sorted? Mid Life; Live It!

You will need to get hold of these to fix the rear door lock onto the rear door. I bought s/s nut retainer plates and s/s nut stud plates from YRM metal solutions. These little chaps bolt the locks to the doors and sit on the o/s of the doors in the lock recesses. On the YRM web site and they are product numbers 170 and 171. You will need two of each. Basically the lock has 4 holes in it and these plates go on the outside of the door and bolt the lock on the inside of the door. The remains of the old ones will still be on the outside of the door in the appature that the handle is. Above and below the handle.
SP 4x4 also sell them and no doubt you will be able to get these at paddocks or other Land Rover specailists.
Cheers, SH
