BAS Remap evolution (NO EGR) upgrade
Yesterday "night" I tested the new version of Pete Remap (Bell Auto Services) with software EGR blank.

Pete has centered the GOAL!!!

My car was a car with the (in)famous flat spots between 2200 - 3000 rpm; NOW ARE COMPLETELY GONE!

The engine run like a dream, very quick to "take" RPM and a lot of pull, underlined "a lot".

EGR is ALWAYS CLOSED, it stay at 16-18% ONLY AT IDLE, but when I "touch" the throttle it go to 0% always.

BRAVO PETE, good job!!!!! Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Yep .. had mine done last Saturday by Ian [IRB] Sent the mapping to Pete for a re-write and loaded it back on ecu.
What a difference!, No more flat spots, takes off even quicker than before ..... and checked my mpg at fill up , now 2 mpg better!!

Impressed bunny here - get yours done lads and lasses, you will not regret it Cool

Hi Pete
forgive my ignorance but can I have just the 'EGR close' patch added to my ecu or do I need to buy the remap interface equipment as well ... I dont want to tune the motor just bypass the EGR.. Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html
Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold

Hi
Yes you could, but i would need the car here to apply it or you would need a bas interface to apply it your self.

Dgardel, you are so right, this is what the standard Puma map should have been like! I loaded my BAS remap last night, and this morning I had to go to the suspension specialist, 70km away. I kept looking for a 7th gear on the highway! Thumbs Up

As Pete promised, this is what I wanted - smoother, more linear power delivery, and of course the EGR self-cleaning does not happen. All the way there & back (140km highway driving) it felt livelier, but not so much that even an LR mechanic would notice the difference, or if he did, would put it down to tyres, fuel, etc. My landy is bog standard, but am thinking of putting a bigger intercooler at some point.

One thing that worries me though, between 1800-2100rpm the engine clatters a lot, as if there were a bunch of nails rattling around in there. I noticed this in all gears at this specific rev range - is that normal? --

The ECU on the puma engine is fully adaptive, it will take some miles to settle down fully. Though the engine will also sound different when tuned in most cases as we are working the injectors and other components harder than in original tune.

Though i cant say ive ever heard a "Nails" type noise.

Thank Pete!

I think the Tdi & Td5 noises were more tractor-like, the Puma on the other hand is too refined, hence nails Rolling with laughter --

Yep, it just does it a bit more with the remap. My Puma did not really have this noise until the engine started loosening up at around the 10000km mark. --

Btw, with retards to the ECU adapting to the new map, how long does this take? This morning I did 140km, and we are going away this weekend, will probably do another 400km. --

Something else I am noticing, although I must monitor further, the EGT is coming down much more quickly after I have stopped.

Usually when I get to work (0830) I have to wait 2-3min for the EGT to come down to 160C, but this morning (1100) it was already down to 170C by the time I had parked. Similar thing just now when I got home. --
