Hi - Has anyone been able to sort this problem out? My car has been in the auto electrician all week and he still can't find the issue. Help would be much appreciated. Cheers Marcus

Hello

Sorry I thought I had updated this post

Mine has 'touch wood' vbeen sorted now since changing the rear part of the ignitian barrel.

All have worked perfectly, it must have been an iffy contact evey now & again just failing then coming back on.

Cheap fix in the end and piece of mind restored Smile

Hope your s is similar fix

Reading the various threads on Intermittent Starting / Cut Out problems
If I was faced with this (again) I would 100% swap out the ignition switch,
just to take it out of the equation mine was intermittently not starting...
it never cut out when running but it looks as though some do.

The Ignition Switch is cheap to buy (probably part of the problem) and depending
on what your set up is can be a Censored to replace...not difficult just involved

Here's my fix 2 years later all OK and (I carry a spare just in case)

Thanks to both of you for your help. I have just spoken to my auto electrician and he is ordering a new ignition switch. I'll update when I know more.

My problem went away when I started using better fuel - see this thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69868.html
I mainly do short journeys, and I suspect sensors were getting mucky between longer runs.

That certainly is interesting. I've been using Morrisons fuel for quite a long period of time and also Jet. I will make the change! Cheers

Looks like I am joining the group of intermittent cutouts. Going to be checking all the things listed, but did the ignition barrel fix things for you too, MMMC?
