Long overdue update on the Range Rover. I've been concentrating on the bonnet to start with, it's taking longer than I'd hoped mostly because I'm doing it thoroughly ( I don't want to be doing it again in a hurry!)
I separated the bonnet skin from the frame so I could treat any rust that was lurking behind the frame (and the frame itself)  Click image to enlarge From the factory the frame and skin are assembled before painting. This is obviously begging for corrosion as the bits that the base coat and lacquer can't get to are left in just their EDP coat which isn't particularly corrosion resistant at all! Add to this that some parts of the frame are aluminium and some steel (rivited together without separation of course) it's a BL recipe for corrosion  On reassembly I have put thin rubber between the contact patches to help stop any further electrolytic corrosion 
Luckily my dad had waxoyl'd everywhere from new so that had saved the bonnet from terminal rust (but hadn't stopped it completely). So after some rust removal and priming, I painted the frame completely on both sides for maximum protection. I also cleaned and painted the bonnet striker, bonnet stay and fitted a new safety latch. The standard under bonnet light was broken and dim, so I 3D printed some adaptors and, utilising the hole for LHD vehicles, fitted 2 led light, much better! I've been getting a bit side tracked with the Range Rover. Mostly because I'm bored of panel beating
So today's unexpected update is that the Range Rover is now running properly on LPG. Basically the stepper motors on the drivers side bank of cylinders had both wound fully out to the end of their threads. I managed to work them back in. Put it all back together and voilà. Two updates in one day!
Got the underneath of the bonnet skin primed in buzzweld rust encapulator. Next I'll reattach the skin to the frame - then I can do the finishing touches and top coat the bonnet
