Heated mirror/front screen switch issue

Hi

In the process of adding heated mirrors to my td5. I decided as I wasn't going to install a heated front screen and the switch would fit in the standard dash I'd use the switch for a heated front screen (YUG000460LNF) to turn the heated mirrors on and off.

unfortunately it seems the switch will only power the mirrors when held in.

looking at the wiring for a heated front screen it appears the switch gives a pulse to a timer relay which then energises the relay to power the screen. Which I think leaves 3 options

1. Add a timer relay and wire it up per the standard front screen wiring
2. replace the standard relay with a latching/impulse relay
3. get a new switch body and connector from a latching type switch and swap the fascias

Any thoughts on those options, whether they will/won't work an better options?

Cheapest and quickest option is 3 - the Puma heated seat switch will do what you want.

I'm in the process of planning something similar (one switch for heated front/rear/mirror). In choosing the relay(s) for this, a timed one made more sense for functionality? That way I press it once, and I don't have to remember to turn them off again after driving for a while.

PRC6796 is the original fit timer for the front screen, it normally operates a single relay for the front screen but you could add extra relays

Hmm, they used to come up on eBay regularly but seems that's no longer the case

Slight Hijack of thread
I would like to put heated seats in on a timer - 10 mins heat at start of journey
If I use the front window switch to a GLR10 timer then a relay - will this work
The kits from mobile centre seem to have two relays and the orange timer - why two relays
Any chance of someone showing the wiring required ?
