Save the Red-Dot one

Like many a troll, he / she is always good for a laugh with their insight and ready wit
Many an off post discussion has been saved by the Red-Dot one managing to cause offence and unite everyone together

Please let him live Martin

15 Defender enthusiasts take an interest, and contribute to a thread about filler caps for their vehicles. They share opinions and enthusiasm respectfully with one another.

Those who don΄t see the point, and cannot understand the money spent on a hobby, should follow the thread silently and amuse themselves, or ignore it completely.

This is a wonderful forum, and is helping considerably to keep the enthusiasm for the Defender alive. Bow down Bow down Bow down 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

Also Custom90 how do you mean damage the paint? do you mean if on a tether and hangs down
Thanks all

Yes, slightly added weight means it's more likely to accidentally dropped.
And being metal, even more likely.

Someone down under has the perfect solution for avoiding potential paint damage from a dangling fuel cap. Whistle Laughing

Unless there is someone to hold the cap whilst filling up, it rests against the paintwork, which does not impress me at all. Solution?.....Wifey gets out as well at fill up time & holds the cap!
Silly, but true. Pickles.
You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Hello

"This is a wonderful forum, and is helping considerably to keep the enthusiasm for the Defender alive"

Here here, I enjoy everything about this forum, in my short to some of you guys / girls Defender ownership I have picked up loads of advice. I love reading build thread and as you say some things I'm not that keen on but that's the beauty with these cars making them your own.

I've saved a fortune doing many things on my car myself rather than paying for stuff to be fitted, I've learnt, swore, spilt blood but the sense of achievement is great and it means my Landy 'Fund' has pennies in I can treat him to some nice toys Smile evey now and again.

The Cap maybe here tomorrow... I'm actually excited about seeing a filler cap !!

I was looking at a tether from another make of car to fit to it, however I also think they look a bit naff and as Custom90 points out it could dangle down.... not good for the paint... So I do like Pickles suggestion about the wife holding it (always good...) however I normally end up filling up on my own..

Maybe I need a little plinth I take out, rest in on the petrol pump and place the cap on this... Rolling with laughter

You could of course ask Croytec or Optimill, etc to design a little sort of fold-out bracket to hold it or rest it on. Something like those fold down foot rests you can get to go behind the doors up the side of the body. Sorry, can't think of the name of them or who sells them.

There is another company on the scene who are making some machined bits called "Gore" I think.

I cannot believe I am going to buy an Optimill
However looked at the plastic OEM version and its £25 - so an extra £40 isn't too bad

Still cannot get over the Overfinch version
