I had been doing some searching around the forum for a foldable table for the rear door. This one was around £60 from Amazon and so far very pleased with it - very quick and easy to fit, with some M6 short bolts and load spreader behind the trim.

You may spot not initially intended for a Defender, but fits well 😉

Hi,

Nice solution - can I ask, do you have to assemble it? If so, could you put it together so that the lip was on the inside? Reason being I’d like to use the slots for molle bags.

TIA

Rich

You don’t, but I would say easy to take apart and re-assemble how you prefer (2 nuts and bolts only)

That seems a really good fit! Could you elaborate on how you fitted (just through the plastic trim?) and what you used as a load spreader please?

Thanks!

Hi T3.

I thought I would try just fixing just through the plastic trim (given the panel is secured by the 4 grab handle screws plus other push fixings). So far, all is good and used several times for cooking etc.

You do get a template in the pack for positioning the fixing holes, but I just positioned the table to make sure the rear door would open and close, then just drilled 6mm holes in the plastic trim.

I just used some MDF offcuts I had for the load spreaders (see photo), as a prototype to see if simply bolting through the plastic trim worked (3 x black M6 short bolts and washed on each side). This worked fine and so far I have not had a reason to change or replace with anything else.

I am sure penny washers would also work. I did also use some double sided foam sticky tape on the table supports, but again not really needed.

Hopefully clear, but let me know if any other questions.

Thanks, Newton-Tony - that's very useful! It's going on my list of things to do.

Cheers.

Got mine fitted yesterday, added some nylon spacers to keep it vertical and not lose any space in the net pocket.

Had to reverse the bolts shown in first pic as they rubbed on the table.

Added some Mud molle bags and my axe, worked out well, cheers for the tip on the table!
